Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Backing Ring for PE Flanges PN10/PN16
Product Overview
The Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Backing Ring is the mechanical backbone of a PE flanged connection. Designed to be used in tandem with a PE stub end (or flange adaptor), this ring provides the necessary structural integrity and clamping force to create a secure, high-pressure seal. Unlike the PE component, the backing ring does not come into contact with the fluid medium. Its sole purpose is to distribute the bolt load evenly across the flange assembly, preventing distortion and ensuring a reliable joint. Our backing rings are manufactured from high-strength carbon steel and protected by a thick layer of hot-dip galvanization, offering superior, long-term resistance to atmospheric corrosion in demanding field conditions.
Key Features
- Superior Corrosion Protection: Undergoes a hot-dip galvanizing process, which creates a durable, metallurgically bonded zinc coating that far outlasts paint or electro-plating for a maintenance-free life.
- High Mechanical Strength: Constructed from robust carbon steel, engineered to withstand the specified bolt torques and internal pipeline pressures without warping or failure.
- Simplified Installation: As a “loose” or “slip-on” component, it can be freely rotated around the PE stub end before tightening, making alignment of the bolt holes with the mating flange quick and effortless.
- Standardized Dimensions: Drilled to EN 1092-1 standards for PN10 and PN16 pressure ratings, ensuring full compatibility with industry-standard PE stub ends, valves, pumps, and other flanged equipment.
Available Types / Connection Methods
We offer multiple configurations to match common PE flange assemblies.
- Sizes: A complete range from DN50 to DN800 to match all common PE pipe dimensions.
- PN10 Pattern: Designed for use with SDR17 PE stub ends.
- PN16 Pattern: Designed for use with SDR11 and SDR9 PE stub ends.
- Optional Drilling: Other drilling standards (e.g., ANSI) or alternative coatings (e.g., epoxy) may be available upon request.
Applications
- Connecting PE pipelines to valves, pumps, and meters.
- Creating transition points to steel, ductile iron, or GRP pipe systems.
- Fabricating easily demountable joints for maintenance and inspection access.
- Installation points at pump stations, treatment plants, and industrial facilities.
